Job summary

Reading Corps, powered by Ampact, is hiring Reading Tutors to work at local schools in California. You’ll deliver proven activities, coach students, and follow a schedule of 20‑minute reading sessions with pairs of students.

We train you and track progress with an on-site coach; AmeriCorps stipend is provided every two weeks, with part-time roles also available. You must be fluent in English and hold a HS diploma, be a US citizen or eligible resident, and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Dependable with good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and apply feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (email and online navigation).
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
