Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps is seeking a Reading Tutor to help students become strong readers at a local school. You will deliver proven activities, coach students daily, and follow a set tutoring schedule.

This AmeriCorps position offers a biweekly stipend, access to education awards, and training to support your growth. You’ll work Monday through Friday during daytime school hours, with some weeks shorter and holidays off.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (email and navigating online).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult who's focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
