Job summary

Reading Corps is seeking a Reading Tutor to work in local schools, helping students become strong readers. You’ll receive training to deliver proven activities and coaching every step of the way.

Each school day you’ll tutor pairs of students for 20 minutes, follow a set schedule, and log progress in data software. This AmeriCorps role runs Monday through Friday during the 2026-27 school year, with a hourly wage of $18.89 and benefits including health insurance and child care assistance.

Qualifications

• Dependable and have a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
• Able to successfully complete a background check

Responsibilities

• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software
