Job summary

Reading Corps is powered by AmeriCorps members who serve as tutors. As a Reading Tutor you’ll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their reading skills and build confidence, with training and coaching provided.

Positions run for the 2026-27 school year, with daytime hours, Monday–Friday, and opportunities for part-time 25 hours per week. AmeriCorps members receive a biweekly stipend and education benefits, including loans/tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and use feedback to improve.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (email and navigating online).
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
