Job summary

Reading Corps is seeking Reading Tutors to work at local schools helping students become strong readers. You will lead 20-minute reading sessions with pairs of students each day and be coached along the way.

Training is provided, and you’ll document progress in data software. This AmeriCorps opportunity runs for the 2026-27 school year with a biweekly stipend and education awards; it emphasizes dependable attendance, English fluency, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Dependable attendance with reliable punctuality.
• Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Proficient with basic computer tasks (email, online navigation).
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent; U.S. citizen/national or lawful permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
