Job summary

Naugatuck Public Schools is seeking a Reading/Math assistant assigned to a set number of hours per week (19.75) at Andrew Avenue Elementary School. The position operates under the supervision of the Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher and the building principal.

The successful candidate will support individual or small group instruction in cooperation with classroom staff, monitor progress, protect student privacy, and participate in meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Non-certified position.
• Hours per week: 19.75.
• Reports to Building Principal.

Responsibilities

• Complies with all published and disseminated rules, regulations, and policies of the Board of Education.
• Provides instruction, as directed by the classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher to students in need of intervention.
• Monitors student progress throughout the year using various assessment tools, if appropriate.
• Respects the privacy of the people for whom services are provided.
• Provides feedback on student progress to classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher.
• Establishes and maintains sound relationships with students, parents, teachers, non-teaching personnel, and administrators.
• Provides information for meetings as requested.
• Performs additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment.
