Job summary

Naugatuck Public Schools are seeking a part-time Reading/Math Assistant to support individual and small-group instruction for students. Assigned to a set number of hours weekly (19.75), the assistant collaborates with the Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher and building principal to implement targeted interventions.

Under supervision, the role involves monitoring progress, maintaining student privacy, and providing feedback to teachers. Additional duties may be assigned within the employment scope.

• Complies with all rules, regulations, and policies of the Board of Education.
• Provides instruction as directed by the classroom teacher/Reading- Math Consultant/Teacher to students in need of intervention.
• Monitors student progress throughout the year using various assessment tools.
• Respects the privacy of the people for whom services are provided.
• Provides feedback on student progress to classroom teacher/Reading- Math Consultant/Teacher.
• Establishes and maintains sound relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
• Provides information for meetings as requested.
• Performs additional duties within the scope of employment.

Reading/Math Assistant The reading/math assistant is assigned to a set number of hours per week (19.75). The reading/math assistant works under the supervision of the Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher and the building principal. The reading/math interventionist works in conjunction with the classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher to provide individual or small group instruction.
