Job summary

Cleburne ISD is seeking an Intervention Specialist to serve as a reading intervention specialist for at-risk students and assist teachers with instructional methodologies.

The position requires a Master's degree preference, a Texas teaching certificate, and experience with RTI, ELL/SIOP, and SpEd processes. You will collaborate with ELAR staff, provide professional development, and support district reading initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred or higher in education or reading.
  • Degree in Reading or Education with a specialization preferred.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate required for assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Attend ELAR Program Coordinator meetings and coordinate accommodations.
  • Collaborate with campus staff to provide targeted classroom accommodations for students.
  • Deliver staff development and train teachers during district workshops.
  • Model ELAR lessons, strategies, and classroom management.
  • Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for diverse learning styles.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Document Response to Intervention and Accelerated Reading strategies with teachers.
  • Implement reading and writing interventions beyond classroom practice.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Analyze student data to determine appropriate interventions.
  • Use technology to accelerate reading development of struggling students.
  • Manage student behavior per Code of Conduct and handbook.

Primary Purpose

Serves as reading intervention specialist for at-risk students. Assists teachers with instructional methodologies.

Qualifications
Education/Certification

Master's degree PREFERRED; a degree in Reading or Education with a specialization is preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction framework for reading and writing
  • Willingness to receive training in reading intervention assessments
  • Ability to organize and coordinate district initiatives and programs for needs of students
  • Knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI), ELL/SIOP, Dyslexia, Section 504 and SpEd processes and implementation protocol
  • Strong communication and team-building skills
  • Ability to deliver professional development to teachers
  • Ability to interact positively with students, parents, and educators
Experience

Three years or more of successful teaching experience required. Successful experience working with at-risk students.

Major Responsibilities And Duties
Program Management and Instructional Strategies
  • Attend scheduled meetings with ELAR Program Coordinator.
  • Work with campus staff so that appropriate classroom accommodations are provided for students identified as needed.
  • Attend staff development, disseminate information and serve as a trainer of teachers during district workshops.
  • Model ELAR lessons, strategies, and effective classroom management.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles that have a history of struggling in reading.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Meet with teachers on a regular basis to document Response to Intervention and Accelerated Reading strategies and processes being used with struggling students.
  • Implement reading and writing interventions beyond what is done in the classroom.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Analyze student data to determine appropriate and effective intervention.
  • Use technology to accelerate reading development of struggling reading students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Campus Planning And Communication
  • Work cooperatively with others regarding individual student needs.
  • Conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers, as necessary.
  • Assist campus leadership in conducting needs assessment and campus planning in the area of overall student achievement in Reading.
  • Ensure progress toward meeting campus goals for student performance in reading.
  • Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Other duties as assigned
