Goodwill Northern Michigan is seeking a motivated Shelter Diversion Specialist to join our Housing & Homeless Services Team in Traverse City. This role emphasizes identifying immediate housing alternatives to assist individuals and families in exiting homelessness.

The successful candidate will use an empathetic approach, engaging with diverse populations, while maintaining a focus on housing stability. A Bachelor's Degree in social work or a related field is required, along with two years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience in case management services, preferably with housing and homeless populations.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Identify alternative housing arrangements to divert individuals from emergency shelters.
• Conduct strength-based assessments for each individual/household.
• Engage individuals in discussions to brainstorm potential housing solutions.
