Job summary

Watco Transloading in Toledo, OH is seeking a conductor/switchman to control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars in yards, industrial plants, or ports to support our customers. This is a manual labor role requiring completion of a prescribed training period.

The position emphasizes reliability, following directions, and clear communication via radio and signals. On-the-job training and opportunities for advancement are provided within Watco.

Qualifications

• Read, write, and communicate in English; basic math skills required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• Must be able to pass required testing and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
• Follow written and verbal directions to complete tasks on schedule.
• Read, write, and communicate in English; understand basic math.
• Learn from directions and observations and apply procedures with good judgment.
• Read switching orders and supervise/coordinate train crews.
• Receive instructions from Manager or Customer indicating which cars are to be switched.
• Notify engineer of switching orders and move cars to specified yard locations.
