Job summary

Watco Transloading seeks an on-site Conductor/Switchman to control and coordinate train movements, switching railcars at yards, plants, and terminals. This manual labor role requires proficiency in switching operations, safety, and communication with crew and dispatchers.

You will join a team dedicated to keeping the supply chain moving, with paid on-the-job training and development opportunities. This position emphasizes reliability and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass and/ or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English; basic math skills.
• Strong teamwork and coordination with switching crews and dispatchers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable attendance.
• Follow written and verbal directions to complete tasks on schedule.
• Read and communicate in English; understand basic math.
• Read switching orders and supervise activities of train crews.
• Notify engineer of switching orders and move cars to specified yard locations.
• Communicate switching information via radio and signals; coordinate with dispatcher.
• Operate track switches, couple/uncouple cars, and assist with switching operations.
• Maintain records of cars switched (origin, destination, cargo).
• Sit in locomotive cab to observe signals and report issues.
