Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a Track Laborer to help maintain the railroad infrastructure. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, using hand tools and heavy equipment to maintain, repair, and replace track components. This role provides hands-on training and opportunities for growth in a team-driven environment.

The position requires physical fitness, adherence to safety rules, and the ability to operate under a 24/7 schedule, with nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Age 18 or older.
• Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision tests.
• Drug and alcohol testing required.
• Background screening including driving history.

Responsibilities

• Maintain railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools.
• Repair and rebuild track components.
• Remove and replace ties and rails; handle spikes and ballast.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe condition before use.
• Use torches, hammers, jacks, rail saws, and other tools.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Follow safety regulations and instructions from trainers or supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
