Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. in Ohio is hiring a Track Laborer to help maintain railroad infrastructure. The role involves outdoor work in all weather, using hand tools and heavy equipment to repair and replace track components, with on-the-job training and growth opportunities.

You will comply with safety regulations, work with a trainer or supervisor, and perform routine maintenance and repairs while supporting a team in a 24/7 operation. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least eighteen years old.
• Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review.
• Subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening.
• Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history.
• Relocation within 50 miles of location; relocation assistance not offered.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and railroad safety regulations.
• Follow instructions from trainer, mentor, or supervisor.
• Repair and rebuild railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools.
• Remove and replace ties and rails; pull and drive spikes; shovel ballast.
• Inspect tools and equipment for defects before use.
• Operate tools and equipment such as torches, hammers, jacks, and rail saws.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
