Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is hiring a Track Laborer to help maintain the safety and reliability of railroad infrastructure. You’ll work outdoors, use hand tools and heavy equipment, and participate in on-the-job training for growth.

The role requires physical fitness, the ability to work in all weather, and strict adherence to safety regulations. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are required, with CDL a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision review; drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and railroad safety regulations.
• Repair and rebuild railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools.
• Remove and replace ties and rails; load and unload equipment and material.
• Inspect tools and equipment for defects and safety.
• Use torchs, hammers, jacks, rail saws and other tools.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems on equipment.
• Follow instructions from a certified trainer, mentor, or supervisor.
