Amtrak is hiring a Passenger Conductor Trainee to join a dynamic, safety‑driven team. In this fast‑paced role, you will support train operations, assist passengers, and contribute to a positive on‑board experience across a close‑knit crew.

The training program lasts seven to eight weeks in Wilmington, Delaware, with on‑the‑job development across the NEC and beyond. Successful trainees advance into the conductor role, with flexible shifts including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of full-time work experience or college coursework.
• Demonstrated responsible work history.
• Ability to pass background checks if driver’s license is held.
• Commitment to safety and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Support safe, efficient train movements and ensure compliance with operating rules.
• Assist conductor with movement orders and service plans.
• Promote passenger safety and assist passengers during boarding/detraining.
• Perform yard and coupling tasks as needed in various service areas.
• Deliver customer service and handle disruptions with professionalism.
• Document delays, incidents, and mechanical issues accurately.
