Job summary

Canadian Pacific Kansas City seeks an Assistant Superintendent to lead the movement of traffic within the road territory and yard-terminal. You will develop, organize, and complete daily yard-terminal/road operating plans, supervising Trainmasters and union staff to ensure safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include supervising crews, driving the operating plan, and delivering results against metrics while mentoring the team and ensuring regulatory compliance across the region.

Qualifications

• Strong communication across levels and channels.
• Experience with investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Must be or become GCOR rules-qualified.
• Ability to set priorities and develop action plans.
• Willingness to be available 24/7 for operational leadership needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe execution of the Operating Plan through supervision of train crews and yard staff.
• Drive the operating plan in a safe and efficient manner.
• Deliver results against performance and financial metrics through asset utilization.
• Participate in safety and business plan rollouts across the region.
• Mentor team members and develop succession plans.
• Ensure cost control through support functions like clerical and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and company policies.
• Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and support safety initiatives.
• Lead safety-related tests and investigations as needed.
