Job summary

Canadian Pacific Railway is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to oversee traffic movement within the road territory and yard-terminal. Lead Trainmasters, Assistant Trainmasters, and union workforce to develop and execute the daily operating plan safely and efficiently.

You will drive performance against metrics, mentor teams, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements while coordinating with labor relations and field leadership across North America.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• 5+ years railway experience; conductor or locomotive engineer preferred.
• GCOR rules qualified or willing to obtain.
• Knowledge of investigations and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication across levels and channels; ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to be available 24/7 for operational leadership needs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operating crews, yardmasters, support staff and frontline leaders to execute the Operating Plan safely.
• Drive the operating plan in a safe and efficient manner; mentor team on best practices.
• Ensure compliance with CBAs, company policies, and regulatory requirements; engage Labor Relations as needed.
• Develop and implement career development plans and stretch assignments for team members.
• Maintain safety practices; conduct safety tests and address incidents per policy.
