Job summary

HDR Rail is seeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) to support a wide range of rail infrastructure projects across North America. You’ll work with experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience in design, fieldwork and analytics.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree with an EIT certificate or active licensure plans, MS Office skills, and familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD. HDR emphasizes employee ownership and collaborative growth within a diverse, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or active pursuit of licensure.
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• MS Office applications experience.
• Strong interest in railroad design.
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, construction and delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
• Assist with technical deliverables: calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, exhibits and cost estimates.
• Contribute to projects involving track, facilities, civil infrastructure, environmental services and advisory support.
• Participate in site visits, field assessments and project walkthroughs.
• Utilize engineering, design and analytical tools to support project development.
• Research and apply applicable codes, standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental, advisory, technology and construction.
