HDR Rail is seeking an Engineer‑in‑Training candidate to support a broad range of rail infrastructure projects. You will work with experienced engineers on planning, design and delivery, applying codes and standards while growing professional skills.

HDR emphasizes employee ownership, mentorship, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration across North America. A path toward licensure and ongoing education is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• EIT certificate or plans to obtain licensure.
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• MS Office applications knowledge.
• Interest in railroad design and infrastructure projects.
• Commitment to active participation in our employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, construction and delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
• Assist with technical deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, exhibits and cost estimates.
• Contribute to projects involving track, facilities, structures, civil infrastructure, environmental services, construction field services, and advisory support.
• Participate in site visits, field assessments, inspections and project walkthroughs.
• Utilize engineering, design and analytical tools to support project development and delivery.
• Research and apply applicable codes, standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental, advisory, technology and construction disciplines.
• Travel periodically for project meetings, field assignments and client activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate
