HDR Rail is seeking an Engineer in Training to join our rail infrastructure team. You will gain experience on projects serving Class I, short line and regional railroads, with opportunities across North America. You will work with mentors to develop your technical and professional skills.

The role emphasizes design, field work and data analytics, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. HDR offers ownership culture, robust benefits, and travel for project meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• EIT certification or plans to pursue licensure.
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• MS Office applications experience.
• Strong interest in railroad design.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, construction and delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
• Assist with technical deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and exhibits.
• Contribute to projects involving track, facilities, civil infrastructure and environmental services.
• Participate in site visits, field assessments and project walkthroughs.
• Use engineering tools to support project development and delivery.
• Research and apply applicable codes, standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental and construction disciplines.
• Work with experienced engineers and project managers to develop skills.
• Travel periodically for project meetings and field assignments.
