Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Engineer in Training to join HDR Rail and gain hands-on experience on Class I, short line, and municipal rail projects across North America.

You will work with seasoned engineers, mentor-guided growth, and contribute to design, analysis, and field tasks in a collaborative, employee-owned environment. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or plans to obtain.
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• MS Office applications proficiency.
• Strong interest in railroad design.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, construction and delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
• Assist with technical deliverables: calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, exhibits, cost estimates.
• Contribute to projects involving track, facilities, civil infrastructure, environmental services, construction field services and advisory support.
• Participate in site visits, field assessments, inspections, and project walkthroughs.
• Use engineering, design and analytical tools to support project development and delivery.
• Research and apply applicable codes, standards, regulations and client requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental, advisory, technology and construction disciplines.
• Work with experienced engineers, project managers and technical specialists to develop your skills.
• Travel periodically for project meetings, field assignments and client-related activities.
