Job summary

HDR Rail EIT opportunities offer a path to licensure while gaining exposure to a broad range of rail projects. You will collaborate with supervisors, industry professionals and mentors on design, analysis and field work across North America.

The role emphasizes developing technical skills and ownership within HDR's employee‑owned culture. You will participate in planning, design and delivery tasks for Class I, short line and municipal rail clients, with opportunities to travel and grow

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • EIT certificate or plans to obtain licensure preferred.
  • Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD helpful.
  • MS Office proficiency is expected.
  • Interest in railroad design and infrastructure encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, design, construction and delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with technical deliverables: calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Contribute to projects involving track, facilities, structures and civil infrastructure.
  • Participate in site visits, field assessments and project walkthroughs.
  • Use engineering, design and analytical tools to support development and delivery.
  • Research and apply applicable codes, standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental and advisory disciplines.
  • Work with experienced engineers and project managers to develop skills.
  • Travel periodically for project meetings and field activities.
