Job summary

Watco in Wisconsin is hiring a Conductor/Switchman to control and coordinate train movements, switching railcars in yards, plants, or terminals to load and unload safely and efficiently for Watco's customers. The role requires reliable attendance, ability to read switching orders, and clear radio communication with engineers and yard crews.

The position is a manual labor role with on-the-job training, potential overtime, and opportunities for advancement within Watco's network of rail

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position.
• High School or GED equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable attendance and complete tasks on schedule.
• Read, write, and communicate in English; understand basic math.
• Read switching orders and coordinate activities of train crews.
• Notify engineer of switching orders and move cars to specified yard locations.
• Communicate with crew via radio to exchange switching information.
• Maintain records of cars switched including number, origin, destination, and cargo.
