Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging under radiologist supervision. You will position patients, select exposure factors, and ensure high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

The role may involve contrast administration, adherence to radiation safety, and potential DEXA bone density scans. Certification requirements include BLS and ARRT/ARDMS/ARRT credentials as applicable.

Qualifications

• BLS within 1 month of hire or transfer date required.
• Bone Density Certification may be required within 6 months of hire or transfer date.
• Credentials must be obtained prior to hire/transfer: CCI Cardiographic Tech, ARRT Radiography, ARRT Sonography, or ARDMS.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiological procedures under the direction of a radiologist.
• Position patients and select exposure factors accurately.
• Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within scope of practice and regulations.
• Monitor patient during procedure and report abnormalities.
• Follow radiation safety procedures to minimize unnecessary exposure.
• Submit high-quality images and documents to PACS.
• Maintain a clean, orderly department and equipment.
• Assist in bone density scans using DEXA if applicable.
