Job summary

Guthrie is seeking a Patient Service Specialist for the Radiation Oncology team in Sayre, PA. This full-time front-office role focuses on welcoming patients, accurate registration, and coordinating appointments within a fast-paced cancer care setting.

You will support clinical teams and maintain patient information with a service-excellence mindset, contributing to a positive patient experience throughout treatment journeys.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required.
• Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant school preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a customer service role preferred.
• Medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must be comfortable with computers and learning new applications.

Responsibilities

• Greeting every patient in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
• Answering telephones in a friendly and efficient manner; screen calls and provide information.
• Scheduling and maintaining all patient appointments electronically; verify demographics and assign MRN.
• Registering patients and verifying insurance information; scan insurance cards.
• Verify eligibility for major carriers and complete forms, pre-certifications and referrals if applicable.
• Inform, quote, and collect copayments, deductibles, deposits, or unpaid balances at registration.
• Daily cash-out and balancing per policy.
• Liaise between patients, physicians, hospital staff, and departments; inform patients of delays.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA; attend meetings and quality initiatives.
