Job summary

Maverick Power is seeking a hands-on Product Engineer for Research and Development to support the design, assembly, and testing of low- to medium-voltage power distribution equipment. You will work in a shop and test lab, wiring prototypes, installing components, and validating designs for handoff to Order Engineering.

Ideal candidates have a background in electrical engineering and hands-on wiring, with willingness to learn across electrical and mechanical domains.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent training will be considered.
• Foundational knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems, with stronger electrical background preferred.
• Understanding of three-phase power, control circuits, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Hands-on familiarity with wiring, electrical components, basic hand tools, and test instruments.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical and mechanical design and configuration of power distribution equipment.
• Assist with component selection, equipment layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
• Review wiring, circuit protection, grounding and bonding, component placement, electrical clearances, and service access under engineering guidance.
• Maintain standard drawing libraries, wiring details, and repeatable design packages.
• Learn and use SolidWorks PDM and ERP tools to maintain drawing revisions, released files, and alignment between drawings and bills of materials.
• Participate in R&D design reviews and document prototype findings; incorporate approved design changes into development package.
• Work directly on prototype equipment using hand tools and test instruments to support assembly, wiring, installation, inspection, and troubleshooting.
• Prepare test setups, carry out functional and validation tests, record results, and support troubleshooting and retesting.
• Travel to Phoenix facilities and external test labs to support builds, test preparation, testing, troubleshooting, and product validation.
