Job summary

Johnson Controls in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive external and internal quality performance across manufacturing lines. You will lead problem-solving, define containment actions, and report status to customers with cross-functional teams.

You will apply PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC methods, support NPI projects, and promote the Quality Management System (ISO 9001) while ensuring timely KPI improvements and effective communications across diverse groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another technical field.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a quality engineering role – ideally in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record using structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve manufacturing and systemic issues.
• Knowledge of quality management systems, including ISO 9001.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate across cultures/regions.
• Open to occasional domestic/international travel.
• Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in manufacturing.
• Strong communication skills and accountability mindset.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze customer KPIs (e.g., IWOs, warranty) to identify top offenders.
• Lead cross-functional investigations to uncover root causes.
• Track progress of open Problem-Solving projects to closure.
• Guide containment actions for product lines when quality issues arise.
• Report status to customers and update dashboards/reports.
• Support QA leadership in implementing QMS processes and ISO standards.
