Job summary

Nidec is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to support manufacturing operations at our North Mankato, MN site. The role focuses on quality systems, supplier development, and LEAN initiatives to improve product and process quality.

The position calls for 2–4 years of manufacturing experience, strong leadership, and proficiency in English. ASQ certification is preferred; Spanish is a plus. On-site work with regular travel up to 5% is expected.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in electrical generation or related area.
• Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Good process management skills.
• Ability to develop employees in manufacturing processes.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• ASQ certification is desirable but not required.
• Spanish language skills are beneficial.
• Lean/6S experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and lead 6S events along with Kaizen and LEAN activities.
• Develop suppliers to meet quality requirements and qualify new suppliers.
• Support customer complaints with expedient problem resolution and failure analysis.
• Guide inspection staff through disposition of non-conforming material and print GD&T.
• Develop Quality Control Plans and PPAPs for new products and implement lean manufacturing and error-proofing on the production floor.
• Perform ISO9000 self-assessment audits and support external audits of the QA system.
• Work with calibration staff to resolve calibration problems and reduce operating costs and improve performance of measurement and test equipment.
• Act as project leader for factory improvement efforts related to reduced cost and improved quality.
• Write and revise operating procedures to comply with new and changed practices as well as external agency certification.
• Deliver innovations in quality control systems that provide increased customer satisfaction and is compatible with ERP system.
• Assist QA Manager with Plant and Department Quality performance metrics to measure, report and act on Quality indicators.
• Adapt and abide by the 3Q6s principals.
• Occasional travel (up to 5%) may be required to support supplier and customer needs.
