This is a Part Time and contractor role through X-Team. You’ll own QA automation for a new React Native app for one of the world’s largest annual festivals of music, film, and technology. The custom-built app replaces a white-label vendor solution and needs to deliver a reliable experience across iOS and Android, even when thousands of attendees access schedules and reservations at the same time.
You’ll build the foundational mobile testing framework, integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, and use AI-assisted tools to generate, maintain, and debug tests as the product evolves. You’ll also own device compatibility coverage, regression testing, and performance validation for critical user flows.
The stakes are high, and release dates are fixed. With a major traffic peak expected in late February and four scheduled releases to validate, you’ll need to catch critical issues early, distinguish real bugs from flaky tests, and ensure every release meets clear quality standards before app store submission.
Hands-on experience with mobile test automation frameworks such as Appium across both iOS and Android.
Proven experience testing React Native applications, including cross-platform locator strategies and asynchronous bridge behavior.
Practical experience with AI-assisted QA tools for test generation, automated test maintenance, locator self-healing, or agentic failure triage.
Strong test strategy experience, including risk-based coverage, device and OS compatibility matrices, failure analysis, and formal release quality gates.
Experience designing and executing client-side performance checks and backend load tests for high-concurrency mobile workflows, such as ticket reservations.
Ability to build reliable regression workflows and distinguish application defects from flaky tests, infrastructure issues, and environment timeouts.
Experience designing custom AI-driven QA workflows or developing autonomous testing agents.
Background testing high-traffic event, festival, scheduling, ticketing, or reservation applications.
Experience automating mobile accessibility testing against WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
You approach testing strategically, prioritizing the flows and failure scenarios that pose the greatest risk to users and the business.
You use AI as a practical tool to reduce repetitive maintenance and improve test coverage, while ensuring automated results remain reliable and meaningful.
You’re methodical when investigating failures, separating genuine application bugs from flaky tests and infrastructure issues before escalating.
You think beyond functional correctness, considering performance, device fragmentation, accessibility, and the experience of users under real-world conditions.
You take ownership of release readiness, communicate risks clearly, and are comfortable providing a formal QA sign-off when the evidence shows the app is ready to ship.
