Job summary

Clearway Energy Group is hiring a Solar Technician in California. The role covers trainee through Level III responsibilities, including safety adherence, PV system maintenance, and assisting senior technicians. Advancement exams are required within six months of hire.

The position requires travel as needed, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work evenings or weekends when scheduled. Training and progression through levels I–III are provided on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
• Demonstrable mechanical aptitude; no prior electrical experience required.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams (preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime and non-standard hours (nights, holidays, weekends).
• Must pass advancement exams/oral boards within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment under supervision.
• Shadow experienced technicians and assist in PV system maintenance.
• Maintain tools and organize workspace; operate service vehicle.
• Work on a flexible on-call schedule including weeknights/weekends/holidays.
• Progress through Level I–III with advancement exams within six months.
• Perform level-specific maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation tasks.
• Complete plant orders and contribute to PM/OC reporting as assigned.
