Job summary

Clearway Energy Group is seeking Solar Technicians to troubleshoot, maintain, service, and repair PV solar systems across multiple sites in NY and CT. Trainees start under supervision, progressing through Level I–III with exam milestones within six months, while supporting safe, reliable solar power operations.

Candidates should demonstrate mechanical aptitude, safety discipline, and flexibility to travel. Roles may involve on-call shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Demonstrable mechanical aptitude; no prior electrical experience required.
• Able to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments.
• Able to travel as required.
• Knowledge of and the ability to use various hand tools.
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Able to create, edit, or modify Microsoft Word and Excel documents.
• Ability to work overtime and non-standard working hours (nights, holidays, weekends).
• Professionalism and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment under supervision.
• Shadow and assist experienced technicians with PV systems maintenance.
• Maintain hand tools in good order and organized.
• Operate and maintain a service vehicle.
• Work a flexible on-call schedule, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
• Advance through training and exams within six months of hire.
• Perform other duties within the Trainee scope.
• Assist higher-level technicians with troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Support operations across site activities with minimal supervision.
• Ensure work complies with Environmental and Safety requirements.
