Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Performance Engineer II - O&M to oversee day-to-day operations on active solar projects. The role can be fully remote or hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR, with details discussed during the interview process.

You will analyze data, update client reports, and support performance optimization while mentoring junior engineers and upholding safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, science, or a related technical discipline
• 4+ years’ PV performance engineering or data analytics experience
• Experience with PV modeling software: PVSyst, PlantPredict, SAM, etc.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Office tools
• Experience with programming languages like Python, VBA, MATLAB, Java and others preferred
• Ability to travel up to 20% of time
• Broad understanding of the Renewable Energy industry with emphasis on Service and Construction preferred
• Foster a spirit of collaboration between teams
• Experience working for a diverse multi-disciplined company
• Strong communication skills to articulate vision into an executable plan and clearly communicate details to clients
• Excellent problem-solving ability and analytical skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for problem solving
• Able to explain to internal and external clients
• Able to mentor and oversee Performance Engineers I/II

Responsibilities

• Safety is the top priority and all personnel follow safe practices
• Collaborate with internal teams to collect data, complete reports, acceptance tests and analyses
• On-board active projects into SOLV Energy’s Performance Team platforms
• Track issues and optimize fleet performance across construction and operations
• Troubleshoot performance data and correlate with workorder data for reporting
• Lead junior engineers in coordinating and managing operational activities
• Understand site design, equipment and current issues affecting projects
• Analyze energy losses and system performance from outages and communicate impacts
• Maintain analytical tools and performance calculations best practices
• Assist with troubleshooting potential issues with OEM vendors and field teams
• Update client reports and templates (Commissioning Plans, Test Reports, Vitals, forecasts)
• Support field team prioritization based on criticality and failures
• Review turnover docs to identify root causes for underperformance
• Run PV system energy models using PVsyst or other tools
• Verify drawings and installation details
• Grow into subject matter expert for PV power plants
• Other duties as assigned
• Facilitate project reviews and client requests and escalate as needed
• Maintain training documents and procedures
• Foster strong working relationships within the team
• Collaborate with management on project reviews and risk assessments
• Track performance and conduct improvements or optimizations
