Job summary

Amarr, part of ASSA ABLOY, is seeking a Purchasing and Materials Manager in Lawrence, KS. The role drives sourcing strategy, materials planning, and supplier performance across the manufacturing floor.

You will lead a team of buyers, partner with cross-functional teams, and implement cost-effective material flow practices. Responsibilities include KPI governance, ERP-based purchasing, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inventory and impact metrics positively.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing purchasing experience.
• 2–3 years managing a team or cross-functional procurement teams.
• Experience with commodities buying and sourcing strategies.
• Experience in ERP environments (Oracle, SAP).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure uninterrupted supply through effective planning and execution of operational purchasing activities.
• Escalate supplier performance issues and support strategic sourcing efforts.
• Monitor KPIs and coordinate cross-functional procurement improvements.
• Coach and develop buyer/planners and coordinate performance reviews with suppliers.
• Maintain records, terms, and supplier information; ensure timely issue resolution.
• Lead process improvements using lean methodologies and pull systems.
