Job summary

Graymont Limited's Superior, Wisconsin plant seeks a highly organized Purchasing & Inventory Specialist to support procurement and inventory management. You will handle requisitions, create POs, maintain records, and coordinate with vendors and maintenance teams to ensure uptime.

The role requires strong Excel skills and JD Edwards proficiency, with the ability to work independently or in a team, on-site with occasional overtime during shutdowns. A forklift skill is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of safe work and safety leadership.
• Previous experience and/or training in supply management.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel). High degree of proficiency in the use of (or ability to learn) JD Edwards.
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• A team player who works well with others, good listening skills and possesses a positive attitude.
• Knowledge of plant equipment and a strong mechanical aptitude.

• Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• Receive purchase requisitions from plant departments and research goods, services, price, delivery, and freight.
• Create purchase orders from requisitions, ensuring cost centers and accounts are correct (taxes, freight, etc.).
• Ensure Procurement to Payment (P2P) and approval processes are followed and purchases are executed per Graymont procedures.
• Facilitate clear communication between requestors and vendors to meet requirements.
• Maintain links to the supply chain and build strong relationships across departments.
• Maintain current and updated status of purchase orders and related information.
• Establish and maintain organized storage areas for spare parts with proper conditions.
• Ensure spare parts are traceable through JDE and stocking levels are kept up to date.
• Regularly review and remove obsolete parts.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in warehouse areas.
• Train maintenance staff on the maintenance inventory system.
• Receive and stock parts within 24 hours of receipt.
• Assemble job kits for special work orders, shutdowns, or as required.
• Develop strategies to manage consumables effectively.
• Coordinate transfers and maximize synergies with neighboring plants.
• Label and barcode all regular spare parts correctly.
• Operate a forklift.
• Retrieve parts and supplies from off-site locations as needed.
• Overtime may be required during major plant shutdowns.
• Perform on-call duties in rotation with leadership.
