Job summary

Minuteman Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator in Hingham, MA. This hands-on buying role will manage material purchases, optimize stock levels for trucks, and build vendor relationships to help minimize costs while ensuring on-time delivery.

You’ll split your day between pricing analysis in spreadsheets, tracking purchase orders, reporting spend by job, and physically moving and staging material in the warehouse.

Qualifications

• Organized, analytical, and willing to own the function end to end.
• Comfortable with spreadsheets and data analysis.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing: place and track purchase orders, compare pricing, negotiate costs, manage lead times and backorders.
• Truck stock: build and maintain truck stock program from ground up.
• Inventory: keep counts accurate and warehouse organized.

Description

Minuteman Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is a growing residential service company serving Greater Boston and the South Shore. We are hiring a Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator to buy our material, keep our trucks stocked, and build the vendor relationships that keep our costs down.

This is a buying and inventory role with a hands-on component. You will spend part of your day in spreadsheets comparing pricing, tracking purchase orders, and reporting on what we spend, and part of your day in the warehouse moving and staging material. Both halves are the job.

We are not looking for a specific background. We are looking for someone organized, analytical, and willing to own this function end to end.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchasing: place and track purchase orders, compare vendor pricing, negotiate costs down, and manage lead times and backorders
• Truck stock: build our truck stock program from the ground up so every truck carries what it needs and nothing it doesn't
• Inventory: keep counts accurate and the warehouse organized
• Warranty claims and manufacturer registration on installed equipment
• Reporting: track material cost per job, inventory accuracy, and parts-caused callbacks so we can make better decisions

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Strong with spreadsheets and comfortable working from data
• Detail oriented, especially with numbers and counts
• Comfortable calling a vendor and asking for a better price
• Takes ownership without waiting to be told what to do
• Physically able to move material, use a pallet jack, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly. Anything heavier gets moved with equipment
• Valid driver's license and willing to run material to job sites in a company vehicle
• Purchasing, parts counter, or inventory experience is a plus, not a requirement
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
