Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (FGP) for the Manhattan campus (Center for Women’s Health). The role ensures delivery of prescribed pulmonary function testing services through direct performance of laboratory studies.

The candidate will calibrate and operate PFT equipment, assess patients, and provide education to staff and patients. Strong communication skills and computer proficiency with PFT software are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
• NBRC credential and NYS licensure as Respiratory Therapist OR NBRC CRT with NYS License OR CPFT certification.
• Computer competency including basic Windows-based PFT software programs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of standards, policies and procedures for diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Operates and calibrates laboratory equipment for pulmonary function testing.
• Assesses patients and manages clinical aerosol delivery and emergency procedures related to PFT.
• Maintains PFT laboratory operations.
• Educates laboratory staff, patients, families, nurses, physicians, students and others.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
