Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent in respiratory care as recognized by the NYS Board for Respiratory Therapy.
• New York State respiratory therapist license.
• CRT certification with CPFT specialty within a year of hire.
• Proficiency with Windows based pulmonary function software programs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities and instrumentation related to diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Provides instruction to laboratory staff, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, affiliated students and other members of the Medical Center community.
• Demonstrates leadership and guidance in managing the pulmonary function laboratory operations; progressive discipline as required.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient assessment, clinical aerosol delivery and emergency management procedures related to PFT testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the calibration and operation of laboratory equipment and the performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
