Job summary

NYU Langone Health in Manhattan seeks a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (FGP) to ensure delivery of prescribed pulmonary function testing services through direct performance of laboratory studies.

The candidate will calibrate equipment, assess patients, and support staff with expertise in PFT procedures, in a setting that emphasizes excellence in patient care and education.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
• NBRC RRT or CPFT certification and NYS licensure required.
• Computer proficiency with Windows-based pulmonary function software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of standards, policies, procedures, and instrumentation for pulmonary function testing.
• Operates and calibrates laboratory equipment for diagnostic PFTs.
• Performs patient assessment and clinical aerosol delivery in PFT testing.
• Manages pulmonary function laboratory operations and safety.
• Provides instruction to staff, patients, and affiliated students.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (FGP) - Manhattan. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for ensuring and coordinating delivery of prescribed pulmonary function testing services through direct performance of laboratory studies.

Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of accepted standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities and instrumentation related to provision of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the calibration and operation of laboratory equipment and performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient assessment, clinical aerosol delivery and emergency management procedures related to performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in pulmonary function laboratory operations.
• Provides appropriate instruction/education to laboratory staff, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, affiliated students, and other members of the Medical Center community.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, required.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC; RRT credential) and New York State Respiratory Therapist license OR Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care Certification for Pulmonary Function Technology (CPFT).
• Computer competency, including basic understanding of, and ability to work with, Microsoft Windows based pulmonary function software programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required Licenses: Cert Pulmon Func Tech (CPFT), Respiratory Therapy Tech-NYS, Resp Thrpst License-NYS, Natl Respiratory Therapy Reg

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Pulmonary Function Lab highly desired.
• Bachelor's degree in respiratory care, cardiorespiratory sciences or related area as recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy.
• Two years full-time acute care hospital PFT laboratory experience.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
