Job summary

NYU Langone Health in Manhattan, NY, has a per diem opening for a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (FGP) in the Float pool. The role involves delivering and coordinating pulmonary function testing services and supervising laboratory staff as needed.

The candidate will perform PFTs including FVL, FVC, lung volumes, DLCO and MVV; conduct CPET and Methacholine challenges; maintain equipment and ensure proper documentation for interpretation. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent in respiratory care as recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy.
• New York State Registered Respiratory Therapist license or Respiratory Therapist Technician license, certification by NBRC, CPFT specialty within a year of hire.
• Computer competency, including basic understanding of Windows-based pulmonary function software programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs Pulmonary Function Testing (FVL, FVC, Lung Volumes, DLCO, MVV) as required and checks/validates physician orders.
• Performs Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing.
• Maintains testing equipment and generates paperwork for interpretation of Pulmonary Function tests.
• Performs Methacholine Challenges and efficiently schedules patients with Pharmacy for Provocholine utilization.
