Job summary

AbbVie in the United States is seeking a Lead Publications professional to direct publication plans for assigned assets. You will oversee clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations, ensuring alignment with strategic publications and regulatory requirements.

You will partner with the Publications Director to manage outsourcing budgets, internal resources, and staff development, delivering high‑quality work on schedule in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees preferred (PhD/PharmD/MPH).
• 4–5 years of medical/scientific publications experience or related field.
• Demonstrated leadership in cross‑functional teams and budgets.
• Understanding of medical data and publication regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publication Team(s) for assigned assets and drive publication plans.
• Oversee tactical execution of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
• Ensure quality and alignment with Scientific Platforms and policies.
• Collaborate with Directors to align strategy with publication plans and budgets.
• Manage outsourcing budgets and internal resources for publications.
• Provide direction to medical writers and vendors for timely deliverables.
• Assess performance and develop staff through training and feedback.
• Maintain accurate publication records and resourcing data.
