Job summary

Hopewell in Virginia seeks an intermediate skilled trades worker for the Public Works department. You will perform construction, maintenance, and repair across streets, water and sewer lines, buildings, and related facilities under moderate supervision.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED with some experience; a valid Virginia driver’s license is needed, with potential to obtain a CDL within six months. CPR/AED and VDOT Flagger certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required, plus minimal experience in general construction, maintenance, or grounds keeping.

Responsibilities

• Operates dump trucks, back hoe, front end loader, chainsaw, jackhammer, and other equipment for street, utility, and facility maintenance.
• Repairs and maintains streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and drainage systems.
• Performs general building maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks as assigned.
• Sets up events and handles related setup and cleanup tasks.
• Maintains records and daily reports of activities.
