Job summary

The City of Lancaster, PA is seeking an Equipment Operator for Public Works. You will operate dump trucks, snowplows, tractors and other heavy equipment in street, water, sewer, and maintenance projects, following safety rules and CDL requirements.

Responsibilities include manual labor, equipment hookup and routine maintenance with emphasis on public safety and teamwork. A high school diploma or GED is required; CDL Class B (or A) may be required depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required.
• Prior CDL experience preferred.
• Knowledge of safe practices related to Public Works.

Responsibilities

• Drives a dump truck to haul construction materials for street projects.
• Operates a dump truck with a trailer and a snowplow when required.
• Performs manual labor such as digging, trimming trees, and loading/unloading.
• Operates a rubber tire loader and tractors for maintenance tasks.
• Uses jackhammers and power-driven tools as part of duties.
