Job summary

City of Lancaster (PA) is seeking a semi-skilled laborer to perform maintenance tasks under journeyman supervision. The role involves safe operation of street repair equipment, water and wastewater maintenance, custodial tasks at pumping stations, and assisting skilled workers.

Responsibilities include disaster response, snow removal, and routine building upkeep across bureaus. Graduation from high school required; two years of similar experience preferred; valid PA driver's license required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe practices in performing duties.
• Operate street repair equipment (compressors, jackhammers, cement mixers).
• Assist journeymen and semi-skilled staff.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
• Perform water system flushing on night shift.
• Clean and paint walls, ceilings, floors, and machinery.
• Participate in semi-skilled manual operations.
• Aid in custodial tasks and basic building upkeep.
