Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a PennDOT CDL Operator in Carlisle, PA. You will operate trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment, perform manual labor, and support road and bridge maintenance to keep Pennsylvania roads safe.

A strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and environmental compliance is required. Minimum qualifications include CDL training or equivalent experience, active PennDOT certifications, and endorsements such as Tank Vehicle.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program, or graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in operating heavy trucks and loaders, within the probationary period.
• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Restriction removed.
• Active Medical Examiner's Certificate per FMCSA regulations.
• Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) required during probation and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, snowplows and other equipment during maintenance and winter operations.
• Perform flagging duties to guide vehicles through work zones.
• Use tools to repair, clear debris, and support highway and bridge upkeep.
• Make field adjustments and service equipment, and perform minor repairs.
• Follow safety rules and monitor work areas, reporting hazards or incidents.
• Ensure environmental protection requirements are followed during maintenance activities.
