Job summary

The City of Rowlett is seeking a Graduate Engineer for Public Works/Engineering to supervise city construction projects and support design, data collection, and cost estimation. You will help prepare plans and specifications, review bids, and ensure compliance with standards.

You will work with engineering staff to provide technical guidance, perform complex calculations, and communicate effectively with consultants and the public. This is a full-time role in Rowlett with city benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Knowledge of construction practices and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications, plans, and shop drawings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS is expected.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the technical aspects of city construction projects, focusing on capital infrastructure and private development.
• Inspect projects for compliance with standards, specifications, and City of Rowlett requirements.
• Assist in design and evaluation of construction, rehabilitation projects with field data collection and cost estimates.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates; review bid packages and assist with bid processes.
• Coordinate design review comments and ensure proper documentation and calculations.
