Job summary

The City of Rowlett, Texas seeks a Graduate Engineer to support Public Works and Engineering functions under supervision. You will review designs, prepare cost estimates, and assist with bid processing while ensuring compliance with city standards.

This role offers a 4-day workweek, comprehensive benefits, and a TMRS pension plan with a 2:1 match, along with opportunities to mentor staff and participate in infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of basic engineering principles and practices.
• Knowledge of engineering terminology and techniques.
• Knowledge of construction practices and techniques.
• Knowledge of plans review and inspections processes.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS.
• Skill in oral and written technical and/or general communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical supervision and guidance for city construction projects, primarily capital infrastructure and private development projects.
• Inspect projects for compliance with standards and contract specifications.
• Assist in design, development, and evaluation of construction, rehabilitation projects; gather field data, prepare plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Prepare and review engineering specifications and plans; determine standards.
• Assist with bid processing, attend pre-bid conferences, analyze bid results, and prepare evaluation results.
• Prepare cost estimates using historical data; develop standards and specifications; perform data analyses.
