The City of West Haven is seeking a Highway Driver/Laborer to perform essential highway and park maintenance in West Haven, CT. Duties include operating heavy equipment, plowing snow, maintaining fields and grounds, and assisting with road projects.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of manual labor and equipment operation experience, with at least one year operating heavy trucks and a valid CDL with endorsements. Excellent safety practices required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and supervise highway and park maintenance tasks.
• Use power equipment such as tractors, mowers, chain saws, dump trucks; plow snow and spread sand.
• Patch asphalt, repair barriers, maintain grounds and fields, and fabricate signs.
• Lead lower-classification staff and ensure safety procedures are followed.
