Town of Manchester is seeking a Public Works laborer to perform manual and skilled tasks in road and park maintenance. Responsibilities include operating equipment, plowing and sanding, and assisting in municipal property care.

The role requires a High School diploma and a valid Connecticut Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement, with potential for tanker endorsement or pool operator certification. The position may involve leading seasonal staff and adhering to OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or equivalent.
• Two years of grounds keeping/park maintenance or care of municipal properties.
• Must hold valid Connecticut Class B Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement.
• May be required to obtain tanker endorsement.
• May be required to be certified as licensed pool operator.
• May require Connecticut Dept of Environmental Protection certified applicator's license.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to mow, grade, seed, and maintain municipal properties.
• Perform removal of leaves/trash, patching roads, and maintenance of fences, signs, and loading materials.
• Lead seasonal workers in Public Works field operations.
• Follow safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Organize and plan work activities and be in responsible charge.
