Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a dispatch/communication agent for the Public Works Department. This role handles service requests, prioritizes calls, and ensures timely dispatch to the appropriate division from a busy call center environment.

Responsibilities include data entry, records maintenance, and maintaining calm, professional interactions with residents and staff. Candidates must have a high school diploma and dispatcher experience, plus Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; AND three years of experience, including one year in dispatch operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and determine the nature of the call for service.
• Dispatch appropriate division to address the request.
• Follow up with residents where applicable.
• Enter and maintain records for all service requests.
• Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior with citizens and City staff; maintain confidentiality.
