Job summary

The Dauphin County Library System is seeking a part-time Public Services Assistant for the McCormick Riverfront Library in Harrisburg, PA. The role is the first point of contact for patrons, delivering welcoming service and assisting with library programs.

Responsibilities include helping patrons locate materials, offering Reader’s Advisory, basic reference help, and assisting with computer use. Strong customer service and ability to lift up to 35 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year’s experience working with the public.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted and to lift 35 lbs. when needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons and be the first point of contact for the library.
• Assist patrons in locating library materials and provide Reader’s Advisory services.
• Answer basic reference questions and provide information about programs and services.
• Assist patrons with basic computer use and troubleshoot simple issues.
• Provide courteous assistance in person and by phone.
